MATTA is now 9 years old and we have grown in that time from a UK agency of 4 to an international agency of 40.  We are all set to keep growing in size and broadening our reach.  We are seeking a Finance Director to partner with us and help us to get to the next exciting stage in our development and realise our ambitious plans.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Analyse the financial performance of the agency and proactively advise the Executive team about commercial risks and opportunities

  • Control our cost base and help us to realise cost savings where possible

  • Provide guidance about industry pay, pricing and other strategies that will help us to improve our profitability and efficiency

  • Analyse and report on client profitability

  • Partner with the MD in forward planning and in formulating and maintaining our budget

  • Oversee all month end process and reporting (carried out by our retained accountancy and tax advisory firm)

  • Review and advise on new SOWs and contracts

  • Ensure correct revenue recognition for all projects and revenue streams

  • Review and approve expenses (via Dext)

  • Approve the monthly payroll 

  • Manage the agency’s insurance renewals and coverage

  • Oversee our Accounts Receivable and Payable, ensuring timely invoicing and payments, and healthy cash flow management via our retained accountants

  • Lead the finance function of the agency and be a trusted advisor to the founders

Job requirements

  • We expect that you are ACA/ACCA qualified with 10+ years’ post-qualification experience

  • You have significant experience leading an in-house finance function, gained at least in part within an agency environment (or a professional services firm)

  • You are proficient in the management of an accounting software (preferably Xero) and can utilise your experience to recommend other software or systems to aid efficiencies

  • You are capable of balancing a number of responsibilities and prioritising them effectively

  • You have a proven track record in using your commercial expertise to help small to medium sized companies grow and thrive

  • Your operational experience has enabled you previously to introduce impactful efficiencies

  • Your natural gravitas and confidence inspires trust in the people around you

  • You have experience in being the trusted financial partner and advisor to the most senior stakeholders in a business

  • You are a team player through and through, and a natural relationship builder.

  • You have a great work ethic and a can-do attitude, and enjoy rolling your sleeves up and getting stuck into the detail.

  • You have consummate communication and interpersonal skills when engaging with multiple stakeholders.
